Construction industry in need: 1000 jobs away, but everyone is desperately looking for!
The construction area is under pressure! Between June 2023 and June 2024, Charente-Maritime decreased by alarming 7.5 %-this means around 1,000 less! While the entire sector in France expects a loss of 50,000 jobs, companies at the same time have enormous difficulties to find new employees. Shocking 40 % of companies in the region and across the country complain about occupation problems.
Despite attractive salaries and innovative techniques such as mechanized aids and exoskelets, the sector remains unattractive for many. Many workers prefer to pay more paid temporary employment agencies, which presents companies with the challenge of constantly hiring and training new employees. "The introduction of new employees is expensive," explains Philippe Borne, President of the Fédération Française du Bâtiment et des Travaux Publics in Charente-Maritime. The construction area remains in a paradoxical location in which it urgently needs new talents, but cannot recruit it. Interested parties can take part in a job dating in Grand Village plague on Tuesday or take part in a construction site tour in La Rochelle on Thursday to arouse interest in a career in construction.
