Edeka Germering: Discussion about the surprisingly black facade
in Germering, a city near Munich, the new Edeka branch at the S-Bahn station provides excitement. Many passers -by and residents are amazed over the facade of the shop, which appears black painted, although a bright design was originally planned. On social media platforms, there is now eager to discuss and puzzle how this color change could occur.
The authorities on site were just as surprised by the sudden change in color as the citizens. City architect Jürgen Thum confirmed that a bright facade was actually determined in the original building permit. However, the plan was changed by a so -called tectage application, which was submitted to the city in July this year. Among other things, this application included changes to the facade design, which are not subject to approval, which the city brought in a difficult situation. Thum explained: "The city had no opportunities for influence because it is a private property."
The role of the city administration
The building authority was able to organize an inspection with the city council groups in order to inform the citizens about the changes, but this was more of a reaction to concerns than an opportunity to influence. The city administration had already expressed concerns about the black sheet metal facade in a committee meeting three years ago. Thum emphasized that no legal steps against the color change can be undertaken, since Edeka has exercised all the rights they are entitled to in accordance with the development plan.
The situation raises questions about communication between Edeka and the city administration. While Edeka originally promised a bright color design, the company did not follow this promise. Thum regrets this and explains that the non -bindingness of the promise did not meet the entire planning process. "Unfortunately, Edeka did not implement the promise," he added.
Despite the controversy, Edeka ensured that all other requirements, such as the parking space statute, are complied with. This means that the access situation and the parking facilities are well thought out, even if the outside of the building is currently under discussion.
The opening of the new Edeka branch is scheduled for September 26, 2024. It remains to be seen whether the unusual choice of colors will be accepted by future customers. The opinions about the design are divided, but it will be interesting to see how the image of the facade will fit into the environment over time.
A final statement by Edeka on the changes and public perception has so far been pending. The question remains to the extent to which enforcement authorities and companies will communicate more in the future in order to avoid such situations.
