Thuringia: Nightmare dog bite-11-year-olds fight for survival

A shattering event hit the city of Gera in Thuringia and shaked the local community. An 11-year-old girl was seriously injured in a dog bite while walking in the forest with her dog. This experience has triggered concern not only with the family affected, but also in the entire neighborhood and raises questions about the safety of dog owners.

Thuringia: The dark side of dog keeping

on June 29, a sunny Saturday, a girl went to the city forest near the zoo in Gera to walk with her six -month -old Bobtail called Buddy. The area was full of people, including other dog owners. But apparently a dog owner did not seem to be willing or able to control his dog, which had fatal consequences.

an exuberant walk becomes a nightmare

What was originally intended as a relaxing excursion quickly developed into a struggle for survival. As the girl's mother, Jenny Breuninger, reported, she was called by her daughter and informed of the shocking state. "Mom, you have to come quickly, it's all full of blood!" The child called. The aggressive dog had bitten the girl in the arms and legs several times and even injured her face before his owner could intervene.

The role of the community

The spontaneous help of passers -by was crucial in this situation. They took care of the blood -blurred girl and called an ambulance. Jenny remembers the moment when she saw her daughter in the ambulance: "I only recognized her on my eyes. The child only screamed after me!" The quick reaction of these people may have saved the girl's life.

medical care and legal steps

In the hospital, the doctors had to treat the girl's wounds carefully. This first medical care was critical because the injuries did not have to be completely closed in order to avoid the risk of infection. Jenny thanks the doctors for their excellent work and emphasizes the intensive care that her child received.

At the same time, the family initiated legal steps to seek justice for the injuries and the trauma that the girl experienced. "We turned on a lawyer who continues to pursue the case," explains Jenny. With an ongoing police investigation, the responsibility of the dog owner is now also checked. It remains unclear whether the dog was really leash, like the owner, or whether there are contradictions in the reports.

mental wounds according to the incident

The physical injuries are treatable, but the mental scars can sit deeper. Both mother and daughter are now afraid of going back into the forest or meeting dogs. In order to process the trauma experienced, both will seek psychological support.

This tragic episode not only shaken trust within the family, but also the local community sensitized to the responsibility that goes hand in hand with dog keeping. The events show that security in dealing with animals is as important as the love that they are shown.
