A quarter of a century of palliative medicine: a place of hope in parish churches
The Rottal-Inn clinics celebrate an important event: the 25-year existence of the palliative department. This facility has developed to an indispensable part of the healthcare system in the region in recent years, and the festivities attracted numerous guests, including political representatives, employees, alumni and supporters from society and business.
a tradition of care
The board of the clinics, Bernd Hirtreiter, emphasized when greeting that palliative medicine took a new path 25 years ago. Originally located in internal medicine in the Eggenfelden hospital, the department only offered four patient rooms. "At that time we were pioneers, partly with the first beginnings of palliative medicine in Bavaria," said Hirtreiter. This early vision has contributed significantly to the development of the department, which now has eleven beds.
tailored to individual needs
District Administrator Michael Fahmüller described the palliative department as a place that not only offers medical care, but also human warmth and support for patients and their relatives. Around 500 patients are treated here every year, each individual receiving the required individual care. "There are few institutions that are so life -affirming and human," emphasized Fahmüller.
Special recognition for long -term employees
Several employees who have been working in the department for many years, including Willi Harreiter and Robert Rembeck, were also honored at the anniversary celebration. Your dedication and commitment help to shape the work in palliative medicine. The clinic pastor emphasized in the ceremony that the team acts as a "guardian of the threshold" by accompanying people in their last phases of life.appreciation of responsibility
A central point of the celebration was the appreciation for the responsibility that the palliative team takes over, even in difficult times. The former chief physician Dr. Uwe Schulten-Baumer reflected on the beginnings of the department and the challenges associated with it. "Palliative medicine was and is necessary to meet the needs of seriously ill people," said Schulten-Baumer.
sustainable support from donations
A remarkable part of the celebration was the donation handover by the Rotary Clubs Rottaler Land and Eggenfelden-Palatin Churches, which provided 4,000 euros for the palliative department. These funds are crucial to finance wishes that go beyond the regular budget, including the improvement of the patient experience and further education of the staff.
The anniversary event, musically framed by Stephanie Zelger and her band, served not only the celebration, but also to memory of the progress in the palliative medicine of Rottal-Inn clinics and the mission to shape the retirement of patients with dignity and respect. "We give more life to the days," was the motto that impressively summarized the philosophy of the department.
