Father's daughter duo opens chamber music season in Nordhorn!

The "Pro Nota" support association of the Musikschule Nordhorn starts on February 22nd at 7 p.m. in the new season of its chamber concert series, which has existed since 1991 and has so far comprises over 200 performances. The concerts will start at 7 p.m. so that visitors can end the evening in the "Café Nino".

At the start of the season, violinist Iris Groh, who has been playing violin and piano since childhood, can be heard together with her father, the renowned pianist Markus Groh. The program includes the "Sonata for Violin and Piano in G major" by Guillaume Lekeu and the "Fantasy for Violin and Piano in C major" by Franz Schubert.

Markus Groh, professor at the University of the Arts Berlin, is internationally recognized and in 1995 was the first German to win first prize in the Queen Elisabeth competition in Brussels. He played with more than 140 orchestras worldwide and is considered one of the best pianists in the world, known for his unique sound and technology. His solo recordings have received several awards, and his course of the concert includes appearances in cities such as Amsterdam, Berlin, New York and Tokyo.

Iris Groh received her first violin at the age of five and won numerous prizes in competitions, including a second prize in the "Youth Music" national competition. She has been a student at the Julius Stern Institute for Highly gifted at the University of the Arts since 2021 and has already participated in festivals and orchestral projects.

For the upcoming concert, tickets are available in advance. The ticket prices are 19 euros in advance, 20 euros at the box office and 5 euros for students. Music students entitled to child benefit can receive free tickets and young people who are entitled to the "cultural pass" can also acquire an admission ticket.
