Federal police are increasing controls in Hamburg's main station

In the night of September 7, 2024, between 7:00 p.m. and 02:00 a.m., the Federal Police Inspectorate Hamburg carried out a significant effort in Hamburg's main train station and at the Reeperbahn train station. The aim of this campaign was to take search and presence measures in order to increase the safety of travelers and minimize potential dangers.

Around 60 emergency services checked a total of 179 people as part of this campaign. The intensive controls led to several safety -relevant finds: five knives, a telescopic stroke and two stimulus spray devices were ensured. In addition, two violations of the drug law were found and three search goals were achieved.

The measures took place in close cooperation with partners of the "Allianz Safe Central Station". In addition to the federal police, the Hamburg police and the DB security were also involved in the operation. This cooperative strategy is part of a more comprehensive approach to ensure security in the nodes of public transport.
