Truck accident on the A23: chickens in danger and traffic blocked
An unusual incident occurred on Tuesday morning on the A23 motorway in Schleswig-Holstein when a truck loaded with a living poultry tipped and the road blocked. The accident occurred between Hanerau-Hademarschen and the Schenefeld departure in the direction of Hamburg. The rescue work started around 10 a.m., but the exact duration of the block remains uncertain, as the police said.
Around seven o'clock, drivers informed the police about the fallen van. Fortunately, no people have been injured. However, the situation is critical of the chickens that are in the trailer. Information on the number of animals and their state of health remain unclear for the time being, since the investigation into the cause of the accident continues.
Veterinary office is on site
In order to clarify the situation and supply the chickens, a veterinarian from the veterinary office has gathered on site. He will examine the animals and decide whether some of them have to be slaughtered. This measure could be necessary to ensure the well -being of the animals and to avoid health risks.
The highway is currently completely closed, while in the background tirelessly work on the rescue of the truck and the supply of the animals. The responsible authorities have already set up a detour in order to safely steer traffic to other directions. It remains to be seen how quickly the situation can be brought under control and whether there are possible effects on traffic.
