Reflection in view: TTR 08 is fighting for the future in Hanover
lintorf. A decisive weekend is pending for the Bundesliga team of the Triathlon Team Ratingen 08 (TTR). On Saturday, September 7th, a competition will take place in Hanover, which is of great importance for the athletes. A year ago, the team was able to take a decisive step into the 1st Triathlon Bundesliga, and now it is important to secure the relegation.
"We only have one goal in mind: stay in the 1st Bundesliga," emphasizes team leader Georg Mantyk. This is not only a sporting challenge, but also an emotional matter for the team. With a narrow point ahead, you currently take 14th place, it has to be defended at all costs. The athletes have to leave the competition from Baunatal and Würzburg to secure their position.
The challenge of the competition
For the upcoming sprint triathlon, which includes 750 meters swimming, 20 kilometers of cycling and 5 kilometers running, Jan Baumgarten, the Danish Andreas Nikolajsen, Jan Ortjohann, Morten Schmidt and Leon Vollstedt were nominated. However, a special challenge results from various injuries that made a new election of the team necessary for Mantyk. The British athlete Callum Stedman suffered a hand injury in training, while Thomas Jon Kristensen, a compatriot of Nikolajsen, cannot compete due to a flower fur tear that was created at the World Cup.
The team is determined despite the changes to take advantage of their chances. "It is a competition that can decide everything. Everyone did their best and we just have to show everything," says Baumgarten before the race. The expectations of the TTR athletes are high, not only by those responsible, but also from the fans who are passionate about their team.
The German championship titles in the triathlon sprint are also awarded in the Lower Saxony capital in parallel to this decisive competition. This gives the competitions an additional dimension and ensures competitive pressure. The TTR athletes start with start numbers 71 to 75, and the starting signal is at 1:30 p.m. An exciting weekend for the athletes and their supporters is emerging.
