Elbe ferry Ferchland-Grieben: Communities suddenly have to pay a lot more!
The Elbe ferry Ferchland-Grieben faces financial challenges and urgently needs more money for your company. The district administrator of the Jerichower Land, Steffen Burchhardt (SPD), announced that a new financing agreement is in prospect. Accordingly, the communities involved should increase their contributions to up to 15,000 euros annually, while the counties have to pay 30,000 euros instead of 20,000 euros as before. These changes could come into force as early as 2025 if the responsible committees agree.
The ferry, which is operated under the local transport company of the Jerichower Land, struggles with rising costs, which have arisen, among other things, by unusual working days and repairs. Burchhardt estimates the resulting deficit in the high five -digit range. In order to prevent future financial bottlenecks, even the city of Genthin is looking for opportunities to participate in the ferry network and support the costs.
