Superhelfer: A new learning concept for Koblenz children in emergencies

In Koblenz, the German Red Cross (DRK) implemented an innovative concept that imparts important life skills in daycare centers and primary schools. With the “Die Superhelfer” program, around 400 children learn that they too can make a valuable contribution in emergency situations. The idea behind it is simple: Even the youngest should feel able to act in crisis situations and help others.

The concept is based on exciting and playful learning modules that cover topics such as first aid, hygiene, emergency call and dealing with digital media. Children often have more direct access to an emergency than adults, which is why it is essential to prepare them for such situations. The modules are designed in such a way that they give the children both knowledge and practical skills to learn in an entertaining atmosphere.

valuable support from regional donors

The program is financed by the Koblenz Rotkreuzstiftung, which provides the necessary resources with the help of local donors, including the Mercedes Kesten company. Leo Biewer, Chairman of the Foundation and President of the DRK Koblenz, underlined the importance of this support and the opportunity to guarantee cost -effective access to high -quality learning materials. The courses last between 60 and 90 minutes and are completely free of charge for all participants.

The children enjoy a holistic approach that not only includes theoretical knowledge, but also includes practical exercises. They learn how to put on associations or set an emergency call. The young participants are well equipped with the DRK super help experts at their side in order to react correctly in emergency situations.

The program emphasizes that while in films you often meet supernatural superpowers, the real “super helpers” can be found in everyday life for each of us. Everyone can make a difference through their actions, and that is exactly what the children are given on the way. The DRK responsible, including Ulli Piel-Schilling, emphasize how important it is to convey to children self-confidence and sense of responsibility.

The interest in the modules is great, and the response from teachers, parents and children is consistently positive. In addition to the practical application of knowledge, the program also ensures a positive group dynamics in which children learn to work together and take on responsibility.

"The super helpers" is a step in the right direction to not only teach children, but also to encourage them to become active. It turns out that even small measures can have great effects when it comes to building up a responsible and helpful coexistence. At a time when social responsibility is of great importance, the concept offers an educational and supportive environment that prepares children for their role in society.
