Waiting in the city? In the country it goes faster to the citizens' offices!
In Rhineland-Palatinate, the citizens' offices in the country show impressive efficiency, while urban offices suffer from a lack of personnel. The shorter waiting times and higher availability of appointments in rural areas result from a stable staffing. A SWR research shows that the citizens' offices such as in Hunsrück-Mittelrhein or Bad-Ems-Nassau are almost fully occupied, while in larger cities such as Mainz and Koblenz there are no appointments for weeks.
The reasons for this difference are clear: in rural regions there are less competition with administrative assistants, and the working conditions are usually better. While city employees suffer from overload and are frequently moved, the Situation in the country remains stable. Nevertheless, head of the agency warn of an impending shortage of skilled workers that could also reach the rural Rhineland-Palatinate. A rapid digitization of the processes is considered necessary in order to further increase efficiency and to meet the future challenges. A deeper analysis of this topic offers www.tagesschau.de .
