At 7:50 p.m. the first emergency call received the Krefeld police: a man had thrown fire sets on the employment agency and a car. Another building in the area also burned. Fortunately, there were no injuries. The emergency services were able to quickly identify the alleged perpetrator and arrest the "Cinemaxx" cinema. Information from circles of the investigators show that the man wanted to go to the cinema with a Molotov cocktail and another weapon, but was shot by the police in the foyer.

The suspect is currently being medical care while the police in Essen heads the investigation. The identity and the motif of the perpetrator are still unclear, but there is currently no evidence of further dangers for the population. In the meantime, cinema visitors were looked after by police pastors and the site is cordoned off.
