Man finds body in a hidden tunnel of Mainz - drama on the Römerwall!
In the Rheinhessische city of Mainz, a tragic incident in an old tunnel of the fortress system excited the mind: a worker who was busy with the Roman wall for tree care met with a man's body during his lunch break. Access to the normally closed but apparently overweighted tunnel was open, and driven by curiosity, the worker ventured into it.
According to police reports, it is a narrow access of about 45 by 110 centimeters. The time of death cannot currently be determined due to the degree of decay; An autopsy could take months. Initial studies indicate that the man may have been a homeless person who had been looking for refuge in the tunnel. The police have so far excluded a crime and speaks of an assignment to the "marginal milieu".
