Neubrandenburg's OB Witt demands respect and cohesion in politics

A storm brews itself over Neubrandenburg! Mayor Silvio Witt (independent) has called for a manifesto for respect and constructive cooperation in his passionate speech on the constituent meeting of the city council. "We take responsibility for our city together," the town hall boss called out in the canteen of the university and appealed to the city representatives to leave personal sensitivities outside in critical exchange. A clear call that should smooth the waves in the city!

Witt, which congratulates the 43 freshly elected city representatives, emphasized that all successes were only possible through cooperation. But he also made it unequivocally clear: the city administration has a central role that must not be underestimated! "They take the most basic decisions, this is undeniable. But the creative power of the administration does not belong to the sidelines!"

Dispute and resentment: A dark shadow

Silvio Witt left the cat out of the sack: "The past few years have been shaped by disputes that went far beyond normal differences of opinion." The OB spoke about the controversy around the local elections and recalled how the citizens had to vote in the "Pandemie January" while old fronts remained hardened. With an overwhelming result of 87.5 percent, he was confirmed in office in January 2022, but frightening 67 percent of those entitled to vote remained at home!

"And not to forget the unspeakable speech of the then deputy city president Renate Klopsch, who made allegations against the top of the town hall. But names or evidence? "There is a lack of a fact -oriented discussion here!"

He called for a return to fair and open discussions. "Simply agree that the handling of one another remains respectful and factual. We not only stabilize our democracy, but also make a major contribution to Neubrandenburg, our country and all of Europe!"

Political vibrations: Right pressure in the city council

The political landscape of Neubrandenburg has changed drastically! Local elections 2024 results in a noticeable shift to the right. The AfD grabs the most voices in front of the CDU, while the left, SPD and Green sometimes had severe losses. New in the political boat are the Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW), the Free Voting Community Project NB and the stable citizens for Neubrandenburg, which appeared with remarkable appearance for the constituent session-one was even there in the Germany T-shirt!

Holger Hanson (NB project) opened the session with the clear appeal: "Let's strive for the best solutions for the city in dialogue!" A fresh start or the start of further tensions? The emotional pronunciation of the participants showed that it will still be a long way to Eintracht.
