Göttingen celebrates the art: Gala enthusiastic with a diverse program!
Stadthalle Göttingen, Göttingen, Deutschland - On February 9, 2025, the 22nd art gala took place in the sold-out town hall of Göttingen, as reported by the Göttingen Tageblatt. The event served to promote cultural -related projects, especially for children and adolescents. Rarriers from entrance fees, membership fees and donations flow into these cultural projects. All participating artists performed without a fee.
A special feature of the gala was the possibility for the guests to buy or buy artistically designed residual tiles and bags made of recycled plastic. The evening was divided into two blocks and offered a diverse program that included music, theater, comedy, dance, acrobatics, a scenic reading and an art performance.
Various program inspires the audience
The event was opened with the overture from "The Gypsy Baron" by the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra (GSO) under the direction of Nicholas Milton. In the course of the evening there was a remarkable incident when the musician of the GSO demonstratively left the stage. Nils König, a board member of art, critically commented on the financial situation of the GSO during the gala and appealed to politics not to freeze the grants. The increased rental costs of the town hall were also discussed as a problem for cultural institutions.
The evening led Nele Kießling, who, among other things, announced the staging of the “Tamerlano” festival opera. The dancers of the ballet school "Art La Danse" presented a video occurrence, while the "Göttingen Ukulele Inferno" entertained with humorous songs. The German Theater Göttingen presented a section of "the good", and young acrobats from the KAZ delighted with their artistry.
During the break, various dance and music performances provided variety. A democracy tree was set up to collect messages for a lively democracy. Children from the project "Songs for Cool Kids" performed polyphonic songs, and the male choir of the Göttingen boy choir performed with the topic "Drunk Sobriety". Members of the DT-Ensemble leave an open letter to the preservation of culture, and the Göttingen Theater Workshop presented a piece about children who had survived the Bergen-Belsen camp. The interdisciplinary art project "Iyi Collective" reflected migration experiences in a pantomimous performance, followed by an Impro comedy number of the comedy company. The final of the gala included extracts from the JT production "Barbara" and songs by Édith Piaf and Jacques Brel. The evening ended with great applause from the audience.
As reported by the KAZ website, the previous revenues of the Kunst-Gala have contributed over 380,000 euros for more than 250 cultural projects. The next project promotion application is possible until February 15, 2025. Further information and donations can be found at kunst-ev.de
