VfB Oldenburg threatens the descent: striker search in full swing!
Oldenburg, Deutschland - VfB Oldenburg is facing a crucial phase because the club is looking for a new striker for relegation in the Regionalliga Nord. Trainer Dario Fossi does not rule out a rotation in the goalkeeper position. The competitive start for the Oldenburgers is on February 22nd against SV Meppen. Until February 3, the association wants to hire a new center forward to increase its chances of relegation.
The sports managers, including sports director Sebastian Schachten, have already had discussions about possible obligations. An interesting candidate is Moritz Göttel, a former SV Drochtersen/Assel player, with an agreement so far. However, another departure is also imminent: Maik Lukowicz will leave VfB Oldenburg after four years. As leaga3-online.de will expire on June 30th.
Maik Lukowicz leaves Oldenburg
Lukowicz, who scored eleven goals for Werder Bremen II this season, is considered to be unrealized for VfB Oldenburg due to financial framework conditions. The striker was recently only a reservist and was not used in the friendly against Werder Bremen. During his time near Oldenburg, Lukowicz played 82 games, scored 23 goals and gave eight templates. He was initially set last season, but lost his regular place in the course of the promotion round.
The situation on the striker market could continue to change until the deadline on February 3, so VfB Oldenburg can consider additional options in search of a new striker. Goalkeeper Steven Mensah has already been obliged to duel with Jhonny Peitzmeier in goal while Fossi is considering a rotary model in the goal, but has not yet made a final decision.
