Friedrich Moch surprised with a strong 6th place in the skiathlon!

The German cross -country skier Friedrich Moch achieved a remarkable result at this year's Tour de Ski in Val di Fiemme at the skiathlon. Moch took sixth place and ended the race with a gap of 5.2 seconds to the day winner Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo. This victory enables Klaebo to further expand its leadership in the overall ranking of the tour.

The race took place on January 4, 2025 and included a distance of 20 kilometers that had to be completed in both classic and free technology. Moch performed strong performance during the race, stayed in the top group and was even in the lead at half time. In the target sprint, however, he had to give both the Italian Federico Pellegrino (+2.4 seconds) and Norwegian Jan Thomas Jensen (+3.9 seconds). Moch's team boss Peter Schlickenrieder praised Klaebo as "artist on ski" and emphasized his extraordinary tactical understanding.

powerful appearance and opportunities for top 10 place

Despite a slightly stricken constitution, Moch started. After five kilometers, the field was pulled apart and Moch was in the management group. After the change of skiing, he was also strong and was third in third place two kilometers before the finish line with only 1.4 seconds behind Klaebo. But Klaebo prevailed on the last climb and secured his fourth victory at the Tour de Ski.

Before the final stage, Klaebo now has a lead of 2:18 minutes on Erik Valnes in the overall ranking. Friedrich Moch is currently in twelfth place and has a good chance of reaching a top 10 place. Other German starters such as Janosch Brugger and Anian Sossau took place 41 and 50.
