The release of groundbors, which is considered to be a strongly threatened animal species, is not only a significant step for the preservation of this species, but also a sign of success in the field of nature conservation. At the beginning of July, the employees of the Opel-Zoo and the Nuremberg zoo in the Czech Republic handed over a total of 70 Ziesel offspring to strengthen their population.

The ambient conditions for the ground

The exposed ground floor are now housed about 80 kilometers northeast of Prague in a suitable habitat that offers enough food resources for the animals, especially during the summer months. It is important to know that Ziesel does not create supplies for the winter, such as Feldhamster. Instead, they are increasingly eating food in the warm season to create fat reserves that enable them to get through the winter half -year.

In order to ensure the safety of the ground floor during the critical initial phase in their new habitat, special release boxes were set up. These boxes are equipped with numerous pre -drilled holes that offer shelter to the animals and prevent them from rushing into freedom and possibly falling victim to predators. In the first few days, the grounds also get food there to get used to the new environment.
