Bathroom remains: Ostholstein's traffic planning causes excitement!

On May 2, 2025, various significant events were reported in the Ostholstein region. Among other things, the new equestrian center on Fehmarn, which opened on April 29, 2025, was presented as an outstanding sporting project. With an investment of around 6.4 million euros, Germany's largest ebb flood outdoor area offers and is aimed at both performance-oriented and leisure riders.

The official opening of the equestrian center in Burg, Fehmarn, took place in the presence of numerous guests from sport, politics and business. The facilities include two frivolistic riding halls, including the "Stolz Arena" with the dimensions 30 x 70 meters, which is used for top -class riding events, as well as the "VR Bank Halle" as a training facility for the members. The Fehmarnsche Ringreiterverein e.V. (FRRV) underlines the need to move from its old location to sustainably improve the equestrian conditions.

Various event offer

The first sporting highlight is a clay court jumping tournament, which will take place from May 2 to 4, 2025. In addition, another six riding tournaments are planned for 2025, including the Fehmarn Horses Festival in jumping and a dressage event. The new facility is also available for external organizers for competitions, which increases the attractiveness of the region for equestrian sports.

In addition to the sporting activities, the opening ceremony of the equestrian center is provided with a colorful program, which includes insights into the new premises, club demonstrations and the awarding of the golden riding badge. The system also focuses on ecological aspects, such as modern rainwater management and a natural design of the outdoor facilities.

noise protection and rail infrastructure

In another important topic, the municipalities of Timmendorfer Strand and Lübeck committed to continue to work for the preservation of rail traffic on the old route north of Haffkrug. The plans to interrupt this route for a noise barrier were abandoned, which is significant for future traffic after the construction of the Fehmarnbelt tunnel. The railway has guaranteed to keep the old route ready for operation, which is of central importance for the residents.

The region also experiences a revival of leisure traffic because the Bimmelbahnen have been put back into operation. These small trains, including self -made models, drive between Fehmarn and Travemünde from April to October.

For gourmets, the Störtburger snack bar in Timmendorfer Strand again offers its popular fish soup after a fire in 2024 and has opened its new location. The operator hopes to be able to return to the old location, which depends on the community.

Overall, it can be seen that the Ostholstein region is on the right track with the opening of the equestrian center and strengthening rail traffic to increase its attractiveness for residents and visitors.
