Kronshagener Weg in Kiel finally passable again after construction work!

The Kronshagener Weg in Kiel will be released from Thursday, April 17, 2025. Several news sources report this and confirm the soon return to a unhindered flow of traffic on this important traffic artery. The blocking of the Kronshagener Weg had passed since mid -February 2025 and was necessary to connect around 140 buildings to the district heating network. During the construction work, traffic disabilities occurred in neighboring roads and residential areas.

In addition to this situation, drivers in Kiel have to prepare for a partial blocking of the old Lübeck Chaussee, since the Deutsche Bahn is currently renewing railway bridges there. Only one lane is available here, and the traffic is mutually regulated by a traffic light system.

The passage height under the bridges of the old Lübeck Chaussee was reduced to 3.60 meters. In order to draw chauffeurs to this restriction, traffic signs and height controls with metal plates are installed. In addition, digital height control was set up, which recognizes excessive trucks. LED boards inform the drivers about the triggering of the height control and about turning options. During this turning maneuver, the old Lübeck Chaussee remains closed in both directions. After completing the turning manever, the height control is reset and the traffic light system changes to normal operation.

The KVG, the police and road traffic authority are automatically informed when the height control is triggered to ensure quickly processing of the traffic regulation.
