End of an era: Bilharz pharmacy closes in Sigmaringen after five years

The closure of the Bilharz pharmacy in Sigmaringen is a drastic event for many residents. Owner Martin Lörzer, who has managed the pharmacy since its reopening five years ago, moves back to his home country in Schweinfurt for various reasons.

Competition pressure and financial challenges

One of the main causes for the closure is the sharp competition with neighboring pharmacies, such as the Leopold pharmacy on Leopoldplatz and the new pharmacy on the castle in Schwabstrasse. This has severely restricted the economic possibilities of the Bilharz pharmacy. Martin Lörzer expresses his concerns about the pharmacy for the pharmacy for the pharmacy: "It didn't go as expected," says the 45-year-old and refers to his unfortunate contract term with the suppliers, which has now expired.

Long-term decisions and personal circumstances

Lörzer had already made the decision in 2022, since he could only terminate annually. However, the challenge was even clearer to him in the large number of daily processes, such as the always delayed payments of health insurance companies for e-recipes. "As a result, the pharmacist earns less," explains Lörzer and adds that some of the financial difficulties of the Bilharz pharmacy were also reinforced by an increased cash discount.

Personal connection and new opportunities

A positive aspect of the upcoming changes is the takeover of the city pharmacy in Schweinfurt, where he was previously employed. "I know the team and I know what potential in the pharmacy," he says with a view to the future task. He will also be able to enjoy a personal reference through his mother's home near the new pharmacy. "I would be closer," said Lörzer.

The transition in the community

For the employees of the Bilharz pharmacy, the closure means a change. Lörzer informed her about his plans before the turn of the year and is grateful for the loyalty and excellent service that you offered your customers up to the last minute. "You did a great job," he says and emphasizes the close cooperation with the local care facilities, which he keeps in good memory.

Although the farewell to Sigmaringen is bitter, Lörzer states that he is looking forward to his new phase of life. "The area here is beautiful," he concludes, while October 1st is marked as a pharmacist in Schweinfurt for his return to the new phase of life.
