Practical technology experiences: Tecgirls’days in Schweinfurt
In Schweinfurt, girls will be offered an exciting chance this year to familiarize themselves with technical professions and natural sciences. On the two days of the Tecgirls’Days, which take place on October 29 and 30, schoolchildren of grades 8 to 12 can visit numerous workshops that are offered both at the Technical University and at Schaeffler Technologies AG.
The initiative, which was previously known as a MINT trial days, has now established itself as a great platform to inspire girls for technical courses and professions. The organizers, the equal opportunities officer from Schweinfurt and the surrounding region, aim to expand the girl's horizon in the choice of career and give them the opportunity to discover their tendencies and talents in the technical area.
diverse workshops await
The Technical University in Schweinfurt will offer 26 different workshops on the first day. These range from popular topics such as "What is virtual reality?" About exciting challenges such as "How do robots become intelligent?" To practical activities such as the construction of a Bluetooth music box or the opportunity to design your own candles. On the second day, led by Schaeffler Technologies AG, there are 17 more workshops that deepen the technology offer.
An additional highlight is the free bus transfer, which brings participants from the Main-Spessart, Haßberge and Rhön-Grabfeld districts to the various event locations in Schweinfurt. The program takes place daily from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and registrations for the workshops are possible online from September 16 to October 13th. In order to complete the registration, minor students have to submit a registration form with the signature of their parents.
These events offer an interesting opportunity for girls to discover their passion for technology and science and should be seen as a step into a promising professional future. The workshops are designed in such a way that the participants not only learn, but can also actively work on exciting projects. The practical approach promotes curiosity and interest in technical professions, which are often still considered "atypical" for women.
If you want to take part in the Tecgirls’days, you will be asked to register early - because the places are limited and quickly assigned. Details for registration can be found on the website tecgirls.thws.de. Now is the opportunity to explore a new field of interest and possibly find an appeal!
Overall, the Tecgirls’days are not only an excellent way to learn technical skills, but also an important initiative to promote equality in technical professions - an area that urgently needs more female offspring.
