Clean water for Uganda: Progress in hospital projects in Mugoija

The region around Mugoija in Uganda is facing great challenges, especially when it comes to access to clean water. Supported by generous donors, the Münchweiler Ludwig Heim made decisive progress in the local children's hospital.

challenge water shortage

In many African countries, including Uganda, access to clean drinking water is often limited. In the region around Mugoija, this was also a major problem for the patients of the local children's hospital. Before the completion of a new fountain, the villagers often had to fall back on rainwater tanks, but they were not always sufficient. Sister Maria Goretti Natake, the head of the hospital, has been committed to improving water supply in recent years.

changes through donations

Ludwig Heim, who has been building the children's hospital for over a decade, has made significant progress with the help of donations. In 2023 he commissioned the paving of the entrance area and the construction of a well. These projects are not only important for hygiene, but also for the well -being of patients and visitors. The previous state of the entrance area, which turned into a mud desert in the rain, was a challenge that urgently had to be solved.

adventurous fountain construction work

Thanks to the collected funds, a 30 meter deep fountain was dug, an undertaking that was carried out by four men under difficult conditions. Heim describes the construction work as "adventurous" because the men worked on large quantities of earth by hand. The video, which Sister Maria got cleverly, shows how the sand was shoveled in buckets and then pulled up. Such working methods are hardly imaginable in Germany and illustrate the challenges with which the people on site are faced.

future projects and financial challenges

With the construction of the fountain, not all problems have yet been solved. The next step is to install a steel smack and a water tank that is to be equipped with a solar -powered pump. This infrastructure is crucial for the distribution of the water to the villagers and the children's hospital. In order to complete the project, an additional 5000 to 7000 euros are required - donations that are still missing at the moment, but are optimistic about the home. "We have reliable supporters and every euro counts," he says.

Start with a vision

The projects around the children's hospital in Mugoija are an example of how support and solidarity can cause far -reaching changes in communities. By concentrating on clean water and improving the hygiene conditions, the Munich Ludwig Heim shows that it is important with the right support and mobilization to find sustainable solutions for local problems.
