In the picturesque environment of St. Blasien in the Black Forest, a fascinating event will take place this week. Wood sculptors from different countries have gathered to create their extraordinary works of art in the open air. With chainsaws and files in your hand, turn simple wooden trunks into impressive sculptures, while passers -by watching curiously.

The atmosphere is lively and inspiring. While the chainsaws roar, chips fly through the air, and the artists do their best to shape pieces with character and history from unsteady wooden. Talents from eight different countries are among the 13 participating artists. The local artist Christel Andrea Steier, who comes from Bernau in the Black Forest and joyfully comments on the event. With her chainsaw, she cuts spiral patterns into the wood and enjoys living out her passion for the rough design.

This leads to a colorful potpourri of styles and concepts that stimulate the imagination of the audience.

Creativity knows no boundaries: Lara Stefe plans to portray a girl who climbs a tree trunk, while the Argentine artist Fabian Rucco wants to create numerous characters who carry the trunk. Annegret Kalvelage, on the other hand, produces a astronaut out of the wood, and Jörg Herz has chosen a snorkeler. This diversity impressively shows how different the approaches and sources of inspiration of the artists are.

The highlight of the symposium is reached on Sunday. The sculptures are presented to the public and then auctioned. From 11:30 a.m., those interested in art can stroll through the city, enjoy the atmosphere and visit the artisan market before the works of art on the cathedral square begins at 3 p.m. The proceeds of the auction flows to the artists, which contributes to the exciting dynamics of the event.
