Intercultural week: Experience diversity in the Zollernalbkreis!
The intercultural week is just around the corner and will take place in the Zollernalbkreis region from September 27 to October 6th. It is about promoting encounters between people of different cultures, reducing prejudices and creating a deeper mutual understanding. This initiative is carried out for the seventh time and the city of Balingen plays an active role.
Jasmin de Barros, the integration officer of Balingen, is part of the steering group, which is responsible for organizing the event. It emphasizes how important it is to create spaces in which people can get to know and exchange their cultural background regardless of their cultural background. "Successful integration requires efforts on both sides," says de Barros. This philosophy will run through the various actions of the intercultural week.
Experiencevariety: marketplace of diversity
The kick -off event will take place on September 29 in the form of a “marketplace of diversity” in Balingen. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the population is invited to experience a colorful mix of cultural performances, music, dance and international culinary delights. The offer is flanked by numerous hands -on activities and an open dialogue in which various organizations give insights into their work.
The organizers promise an entertaining program that is not only entertaining, but also contributes to raising awareness of the diversity in the region. This motto continues in many other events during the intercultural week that are available throughout Balingen.
creative forms of expression and culinary experiences
A highlight is the poetry slam, organized by the anti -racism network in the tenth of Balingen. There, young people between the ages of 14 and 18 are given the opportunity to present their self -written poems to a general public. The texts should convey powerful messages about the colorful together in Balingen.
Another interesting program item is the “Tafel of the Nations” organized by the Asylum Balingen working group. In the Holy Spirit Church, the impressive painting "The shared apple" by the Eritreig artist Muluga Tekle is also exhibited, which addresses its own escape and arrival in Germany in 2015. A evening of conversation is offered for this exhibition that deepens the topic.
In addition, the Asylum Working Group invites you to a “Café International Special” in which everyone present is asked to bring culinary specialties from their homeland. This type of exchange should not only delight the palate, but also promote the dialogue among the guests. A special highlight is the Eritreig coffee ceremony, which gives the participants an insight into the tradition of coffee from Eritrea. Even the little ones should not be neglected, because there is an exciting children's program.
Intercultural week is a valuable opportunity to actively experience diversity and to build bridges between cultures. The day of the open mosque, organized by the Ahmadiyya community, completes the offer by offering the opportunity to go into a direct conversation and reduce prejudices.
