Cochem-Zell district administration: Award for family friendliness!
The Cochem-Zell district administration has once again stood out as an exemplary employer when it comes to combining work and family. On June 17, 2025, the administration received the coveted compatibility certificate with distinction at the 27th berufundfamilie certificate award ceremony in Berlin. Hans-Joachim Mons, the first district councilor, accepted the award and emphasized the administration's long-standing commitment to a family-conscious personnel policy, which has been structured by the berufundfamilie audit since 2009.
A total of 306 organizations were recognized for their family-friendly measures this year, including 125 companies, 147 institutions and 34 universities. This certificate is valid for three years and shows that the district administration is taking measures that benefit around 450 employees. These include, among others:
- Flexible Arbeitszeitgestaltung mit über 100 Modellen
- Betreuung von Kindern während der Ferienzeit
- Unterstützung bei der Pflege von Angehörigen
- Flexible Arbeitsortgestaltung, einschließlich Telearbeit
- Integration des Betrieblichen Gesundheitsmanagements
Focus on family friendliness
The importance of a family-conscious personnel policy is also supported by current studies. According to the company monitor Family Friendliness 2023, 86% of management and human resources managers already consider such measures to be important. This number has increased compared to previous years, which clearly shows the trend towards family-friendliness within German companies. 90% of companies are convinced that such measures are crucial for retaining employees.
The district administration not only received the certification, but also took active steps to promote work-life balance. For example, a family day was offered for the first time for employees and their families. District Administrator Beilstein emphasized the importance of the work-life balance and assured that the ongoing measures will be continued and further optimized.
Strategic management for the future
The berufundfamilie audit is an important tool for aligning human resources policy with family and life phase awareness in mind. It includes a systematic process in which key human resources policy topics are brought together and tailor-made measures are developed. This focuses on eight areas of action, including working hours, work organization and leadership. This shows how targeted and structured the district administration plans and implements its measures.
In summary, the latest developments in the Cochem-Zell district administration show that family-friendly personnel policy is not just a trend, but a decisive factor for employee satisfaction and thus for the success of the organization as a whole. Given the shortage of skilled workers and the high willingness to change among dissatisfied employees, such measures are important in order to be perceived as an attractive employer.
