Baden-Baden: Fire department takes stock of New Year's Eve 2025/2026!
New Year's Eve at the turn of the year 2025/2026 was quite busy for the Baden-Baden fire department. In total, the fire brigade counted 15 missions during this period between New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. These included several fires caused by fireworks and technical assistance, some of which also required other emergency services to be alerted. How goodnews4 reported, the operations included, among other things, catching a runaway dog and securing a roof on Fremersbergstrasse, where parts of a tin roof were in danger of falling.
On the happy New Year's Eve, the celebrations in Baden-Württemberg were largely peaceful, reports from the SWR out. Nevertheless, the emergency services were not spared from challenges. Unfortunately, there were also three deaths in different fires in Bonndorf in the Black Forest, Giengen an der Brenz and Lenzkirch.
Important missions in Baden-Baden
Particularly outstanding was an operation shortly after midnight, when a fire broke out in a blind in the city center. Thanks to the rapid intervention of the fire brigade, the flames were prevented from spreading to adjacent areas. However, the emergency services were attacked with rockets and firecrackers during this operation. Luckily no one was injured.
Another fire that broke out on a balcony in the Oos district was immediately extinguished, but the apartment then had to be ventilated. In addition, the firefighters also had to deal with several fire alarm systems that were triggered in the late evening hours, which fortunately did not cause any damage.
Supraregional challenges
New Year's Eve was also marked by challenges nationwide. In cities like Berlin and Hamburg, the fire departments had to cope with a large number of operations. In Berlin, the emergency services mobilized over 1,500 firefighters, which is three times as many as in regular operations. A whopping 1,892 missions were registered in the capital between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m fire brigade ub reported. This shows that the handling of fireworks remains a central topic of discussion.
In Baden-Baden itself, there were several small fires over the course of New Year's Eve and six alerts for a roll-off respiratory protection container for overland aid to Greffern. The fire department was supported by numerous units, including the professional fire department and various volunteer fire departments. The Baden-Baden fire department wishes all citizens a happy and healthy New Year 2026 and thanks the emergency services for their commitment.
