Galaxus opens logistics center in Neuchâtel: 1,000 jobs in sight!
There's a lot going on in Neuenburg am Rhein! The Swiss mail order company Galaxus recently celebrated the topping-out ceremony for one of its two new logistics halls, and the plans are just as ambitious as the location itself. With around 60,000 square meters, the larger hall will once again exceed the Allianz Arena and the entire logistics location will be designed for a generous 90,000 square meters. Where others go on vacation, up to 1,000 new jobs are created here - a real opportunity for the region, which lies between Freiburg im Breisgau and Basel and only has around 13,000 inhabitants. Merkur reports that Galaxus is aiming for the fabulous number of 1,000 new jobs. The first 50 employees are expected to be hired by the end of 2025, and their contracts have already been signed.
The first work is scheduled to be completed by October 2025. The second hall, which is also on the plan, could currently be completed by 2026 or 2027. Michael Stolle, the COO of Galaxus, is optimistic: “We have a good knack for future security,” and describes the company as an exemplary employer. We are looking for personnel in the areas of logistics, facility management, HR and system administration - an offer that should attract not only locals, but also people from the nearby French town of Mulhouse.
Advantageous location Neuchâtel
Neuchâtel has several trump cards up its sleeve: its location near the Rhine and the connection to the A5 motorway make commuting from western southern Baden easier. Thanks to short routes, the products reach customers in Germany and Switzerland quickly via northern European ports. Michael Stolle from Galaxus also seems to recognize this, emphasizing the advantages of the location. This not only creates a modern logistics center, but also a win-win situation for everyone involved.
Things are looking comfortable for the future: Galaxus already has the building permit for the second hall and is planning targeted recruitment for the new jobs, which is scheduled to begin in summer 2025. At a time when the logistics industry is flourishing, Galaxus is doing big business with its ambitious goals.
