Heat wave ends: Dangerous storms and mild summer in sight!

The second heat wave of the summer is coming to an end this weekend. At least the weather forecast from the German Weather Service points to warm and mostly clear weather, even if small interruptions in thunderstorms cannot be ruled out. There is even a severe weather warning for the south of Germany on Saturday afternoon, as there is a risk of heavy rain and hail. It is expected that isolated showers and the first thunderstorms will appear on Saturday morning.

Thunderstorm activity increases particularly in the afternoon, with up to 25 liters of rain per square meter expected within an hour and gusts of up to 80 km/h. In some regions, local storms with up to 50 liters of rain and hail are possible. The maximum temperatures fluctuate between 24 degrees in the mountains and up to 30 degrees on the Rhine. The wind is blowing weak to moderately from the north.

After the storm: A sunny outlook

On Sunday night the showers and thunderstorms in Upper Swabia gradually subsided. This will result in a clearing of the sky, increasing the likelihood of fog formation, while temperatures will drop to 12 to 17 degrees. Sunday then presents itself at its most cheerful; The only cumulus clouds over the mountains remain harmless, rain is not expected, and the maximum values range from 23 to 27 degrees, with isolated peaks of up to 28 degrees on the Rhine.

Monday continues the trend. The new week begins sunny and friendly, with loose cumulus clouds gracing the sky, with no precipitation in sight. The temperatures climb to 24 degrees in the Allgäu and up to 29 degrees in the Upper Rhine Graben. On Tuesday night the sky will be clear with stars, with lows between 9 and 15 degrees.
