Zeltival 2025: Angélique Kidjo and a weekend full of music!

What an exciting weekend we have ahead of us! In Karlsruhe, things are starting in full force as the Zeltival opens its doors. On Friday, July 4th, at 8:30 p.m., well-known DJ Shantel will take the audience into a mix of Balkan grooves and oriental pop with his Bucovina Club sound system. His hit “Disko Partizani” is sure to ensure a lively evening. Loud bnn.de The festival continues on Saturday July 5th at 8:30 p.m. with a special performance by Angélique Kidjo, the great West African artist from Benin who combines her musical styles with R'n'B, funk and jazz.

The tentival extends until August 16th and includes a whopping 35 concerts, including seven discounted “Top Ten” concerts and two family concerts. There is a strong focus on artists from Africa and Switzerland, making the festival a place for intercultural encounters and showing the vibrant influence of these regions on the music scene.

A weekend full of diversity

In addition to the tent festival, other musical treats will take place in the area during the weekend. In Baden-Baden the focus is on classical sounds. The summer festival La Capitale d’Eté will perform Mozart’s Requiem on Friday at 8 p.m., conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin. On Saturday and Sunday, classical music lovers can look forward to the C minor Mass, on both days with various soloists and the Rias Chamber Choir.

If you prefer something a little more folksy, you shouldn't miss the Ettlinger Music Festival on Sunday, July 6th, from 11:30 a.m. Choirs, brass bands and orchestras from the region will provide a wide musical spectrum here. And for fans of circus arts there is the Juggle Maniac Festival in Cleebourg, which takes place from Friday to Sunday and boasts newcomer bands and workshops.

Don’t forget: experience culture!

A highlight on Sunday at Zeltival is the picnic in the Tollhaus Garden with the children's rock trio Rocketerna, which will perform at 11 a.m. This will be a wonderful opportunity for families to spend time together and enjoy the music. In the evening we can expect the show by La Bess at 8.30 p.m., which brings African sounds and different styles to the stage, followed by the performance of the world jazz quartet Les Egares on Monday, July 7th.

The festivalization of culture plays an essential role today because festivals are not only a place of fun, they also promote the representation of marginalized groups and strengthen national identities. How zis.uni-mainz.de explains, such an event offers the opportunity to present cultural traditions and address an international audience.

Don't miss this! Come along, enjoy the variety of music and culture and experience a weekend full of exciting events.
