The history of the Mäschle bakery goes back to better times, when the company was still considered stable and reliable. The temporary success after the switch to self-management seemed to be a bright spot in an otherwise worrying scenario in 2024, but the reality was different. The loss of the branch in Ehingen at the beginning of 2025 in particular was a fatal signal for the remaining locations.
Ultimately, a desired investor solution failed because, despite all efforts, no market participant was willing to take over either the bakery or individual branches. This shows how challenging the market situation in the industry currently is and raises questions about the future of many smaller bakeries in the region.
