Safe media use: Free TikTok lecture for parents in the region!
What drives young people to social media these days? This question concerns not only parents, but also experts who deal with the opportunities and risks of platforms like TikTok. On Tuesday, November 4th, 2025, the State Media Center and the vhs Bodenseekreis are offering a free online lecture that is specifically intended for parents and educators. The lecture entitled “What are you actually doing? – The social media app TikTok in focus” will be led by Fabian Karg and will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The aim is to provide a better understanding of how the platform works and how it is used by children and young people. So, take the opportunity to get important tips on how to use social networks safely! Bodenseekreis reports that...
More and more children and young people are active on social media. A DAK study shows alarming figures: more than a million young users today consume risky or even pathological media. Boys are particularly affected, with a higher proportion of 6 percent than girls, where the figure is 3.2 percent. Tagesschau reports on…
TikTok and its risks

TikTok in particular has established itself as one of the fastest-growing platforms when it comes to monetizing content, which is not easy to find even in countries like China. Zhihu reports on...
Why is that so? Using TikTok is not just a question of access. In addition to the technical requirements for smartphone models, anonymity is also an issue for some users. To use TikTok in certain countries, users must identify themselves as international users. The user 轻易 offers comprehensive instructions on how to use it, which not only helps with questions, but also warns against using unreliable online tutorials.
The lecture on November 4th is part of the Youth Media Week in the Bodenseekreis, which takes place during the autumn holidays and aims to enable younger people to use modern media in a safe and enjoyable way.
