Sigmaringen celebrates a large flea market under a historic castle backdrop!

In Sigmaringen, visitors experienced an unforgettable flea market on the last Saturday in August, which became a colorful event thanks to the committed support association “Friends and Supporters of the HGV – The City Initiative”. The event attracted over 200 stalls to the city center, and the backdrop of the majestic Hohenzollern Castle gave the market a very special flair. Six members of the organizational team, led by board member Ralf Schilling, were at work before sunrise to prepare everything. Schilling emphasized the ongoing need for helpers, despite the great support from the building yard and the city.

Erwin Riegger, another spokesman for the organizational team, introduced the team at the city fountain and ensured that all the hard-working helpers received the recognition they deserve. Local catering was also not neglected: the Hohenzollern Cuirassiers Association, led by Anton Rädle, provided culinary delights. Mayor Marcus Ehm took over the traditional tapping of the barrel at 10:30 a.m. and celebrated the sixth edition of this highlight event.

Market offerings and colorful atmosphere

The offering at the flea market was diverse: from used household items to nostalgic treasures such as a beer mug with the motif of the “Wildpark Josefslust Krauchenwies” there was something for everyone. The visitors weren't left out either. There was free beer for the first 50 guests, and the city enthusiasts enjoyed the musical accompaniment by the Scheer town band.

Particularly noteworthy was the children's flea market in Apothekergasse, where the little ones could sell their own toys, cuddly toys and books without paying a stand fee. This initiative not only nurtured the children's business talent but also made the event even more family friendly.

Weather and atmospheric aftertastes

The weather held up and the light drizzle didn't disturb the good mood. While the organization team began cleaning up, the music lovers enjoyed the Sigmaringen Music Night that followed. Erwin Riegger gave a consistently positive assessment of the evening and had nothing but praise for everyone involved. The gathering was not only a marketplace for trade, but also a place for exchange and community, which is what makes flea markets in Germany so charming.

Such events offer an ideal opportunity to discover old treasures and promote togetherness in the region. It is therefore no wonder that the Sigmaringen flea market is very popular with many visitors. We can look forward to the continuation of this tradition next year.

The unique atmosphere and diverse offerings ensure that flea markets are an absolute highlight not only for bargain hunters, but also for families and music lovers. A perfect opportunity to plan a trip to Sigmaringen and experience the hustle and bustle for yourself!
