Great interest in construction site tours of the A 81 in Böblingen!

On Saturday, July 5th, the tour of the construction site on the A81 in Böblingen and Sindelfingen was a complete success. According to the German Unity Highway Planning and Construction Company (Deges) the offer met with great interest. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., visitors were able to take a look at the construction work that is leading to the capping of the highway. During the tours, participants were given the opportunity to marvel at the progress of the construction site, including an impressive 850 meter long tunnel.

The meeting point for the tours was near the bus stop on the Elephant Bridge between Leipziger Straße in Sindelfingen and Silberweg in Böblingen. The 100 places were quickly allocated in four groups, at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Registration was done via the Deges website and required a good hand – the places were in great demand!

Insights into the construction work

The construction site tours are not only a good opportunity for residents to find out more about the construction projects, but also help reduce traffic noise. The tunnel will later be covered with earth to reduce noise from the A81. A temporary bridge was placed on the tunnel ceiling, which optimized the construction process.

There were a few recommendations for everyone who wanted to take part in the tunnel tour. This included sturdy footwear, ideally work shoes with puncture-resistant soles. It was also pointed out that only people who can walk well should take part in the tour. Deges provided personal protective equipment such as helmets and vests to ensure the safety of participants.

Public relations and information

On July 5th, information and exhibition boards were also set up, which were also accessible to non-participants. These are intended to clearly convey the construction progress and offer anyone interested a free insight into the features of the construction project. The barrier-free exhibition on the edge of the construction site was a further step to promote interest and understanding for local residents.

The organizers recommended not traveling by car, although the S-Bahn and bus connections in the area ensured a comfortable journey. The Goldberg S-Bahn stop is in the immediate vicinity of the meeting point, which made participation easier for many.

In summary, the construction site tour was a successful event that not only illustrated the current construction activity on the A81, but also showed the effort to involve the population in the construction work. Another step towards improving the transport infrastructure, according to the Federal Highway Research Institute which is also aimed at long-term noise reduction, is hereby put into practice.
