Hasselroth shows courage: Gondsroth fire department fights for an Olympic ticket!

The Gondsroth fire department from Hasselroth has big plans: Next weekend, the courageous women will compete in Böblingen to qualify for the 2026 Fire Brigade Olympics. They take part in this competition in age group B (over 30 years). According to Vorsprung Online, the competition will include a firefighting attack (dry) and a relay race, which requires both speed and precision. This time three women's teams are registered in age group B - it remains exciting because only the best team will receive tickets for the Olympics in Berlin.

The Gondsrother team arrives on Thursday, with official training on Friday. Things get serious on Saturday: the firefighters will compete from 9:00 a.m., while the award ceremony will take place in the evening at 6:00 p.m. in the marquee at the Waldstadion in Böblingen. The participants have a lot to do and are highly motivated. There are also other participants from Gondsroth: Hannah Schmidt in the women's team A and Claudia Schmidt as a referee.

A long tradition

Firefighting competitions have a long tradition in Germany that can be traced back to the beginning of the 20th century. The International Firefighters Federation (CTIF) organizes the World Championships, also known as the Firefighting Olympics, every four years. In 2026, this important competition will take place in Berlin, where over 3,500 fire brigade members from more than 30 nations are expected, as association office reports. This will also celebrate the 175th anniversary of the Berlin Fire Department.

The events not only offer exciting competitions, but also an excellent opportunity for intercultural exchange and strengthening international camaraderie. The competitions include traditional disciplines such as the 400 meter relay with obstacles and the dry fire attack. The youth fire brigades don't miss out either - special competitions for the next generation ensure that even the youngest ones get a chance for international experience.

A look back

While the Gondsroth fire department competes in Böblingen today, we also look back on past successes. The last international competitions took place in Celje, Slovenia in 2022 and previously in Villach, Austria in 2017. The Gondsroth fire department was represented at both events and made a name for itself. The competition is tough, but the anticipation of the Olympics in Berlin is an important motivation for the team.

The competitions are more than just sporting challenges - they are a celebration of community, skill and the tireless efforts of our comrades. Gondsroth is ready and we keep our fingers crossed!
