Triathlete Katharina Kellermann from Weil der Stadt becomes runner-up!

A great sporting highlight for the region: Katharina Kellermann from Weil der Stadt secured second place in the women's 40 to 44 age group at the German Long Distance Triathlon Championships. Loud Stuttgart News She completed the challenging distance of 3.8 km swimming, followed by 180 km cycling and 42 km running in a total time of 11 hours and 39 minutes.

The competition took place in and around Nagold, where Kellermann not only had to face the standardized route, but also overcome around 1,500 meters in altitude. This made the challenge even more demanding than, say, the Ironman in Hawaii. The athlete, who is one of the best triathletes in Germany in her age group, prepared intensively for this event and trained at times for over 20 hours per week. On the day of the competition, their day started extremely early: their alarm clock went off at 3:22 a.m., which prepared the cycling gang for a solid performance.

The course of the competition

After getting up early, Kellermann took a shuttle bus to the ore mine at 4:15 a.m., where the competition began. She liked swimming in the competition better than the previous training sessions in the Neckar or Enz. The cycling and running route took her through picturesque places such as Altensteig, Mindersbach, Wart, Zwerenberg, Simmersfeld, Berneck and Rohrdorf. These routes were not only scenic, but also technically challenging.

She has already taken part in several middle distances and one long distance, but the current competition brought her a particularly nice success. Among the competitors, Eva Herbold from LCO Edenkoben also stood out as the fastest triathlete in the 40 age group, finishing after 10:01:27 hours Triathlon Germany reported.

Family success in Nagold

The competition in Nagold was not only a success for Katharina, but also for her son Julius Kellermann. He took part in the children's and youth triathlon in Nagold and was able to take overall victory in his age group (born 2012/2013). With a time of 12:12 minutes, he was 20 seconds ahead of the runner-up. Julius was positive about the swimming and cycling courses, while he enjoyed the running less. It seems as if the Kellermanns not only have the ambition, but also the talent to master the sport of triathlon at a high level.

Katharina Kellermann will certainly continue to pursue high goals in the future and thus be a role model for many ambitious athletes in the region. Who knows what successes still await them!
