Major project in Nagold: Tunnel construction under the Nagold is causing a stir!

Work has been underway on the city's largest construction project in the Kleb city park in Nagold for a year. The Nagold wastewater association has commissioned a culvert under the Nagold to replace an outdated pumping station. A culvert, that's how he explains it Black Forest messenger, is a penstock that runs under roads or rivers. In addition to the water supply, energy is also generated from the wastewater.

Construction work, which ran from autumn 2024 to spring 2025, resumed after a short interruption. From mid-October 2025, the workers will be active again and will be ramming four tubes, each one meter in diameter, under the Nagold at a depth of around six meters. This work is noise-intensive and is expected to take several weeks, according to the plans.

Technical details and advances

A total of over 2,500 cubic meters of earth has already been excavated. Some of it will be removed while the rest will be reinstalled. Twelve wells were built for the project in order to lower the groundwater - less water was produced than originally expected. The new construction method is not only more environmentally friendly, but also more economical and reduces construction time by three months.

It is also planned to start building wells on the Krautbühl side of the Nagold from the third week of November 2025. A building will be built above ground that will be used to control the entire complex system. The major construction site will be completed by April 2026 and the total cost of the project is around five million euros.

Impact on residents

Residents have been fully informed about the measures and no significant disruption is expected in winter as much of the work is carried out by machines. The construction site could be fully completed as early as October 2026.

In order to further support the progress of the project, we are actively looking for engineering offices that can contribute to the planning of the new building and renovations. Informed in this regard Tenders Germany that the application documents must be submitted electronically via a procurement platform, whereby costs incurred for preparing the application to participate will not be reimbursed.

In summary, it can be said that the construction project in Nagold offers both technological innovations and future-proof solutions for energy generation, while not losing sight of the aspect of environmental friendliness.
