Oberreichenbach starts wind energy offensive: Up to seven wind turbines planned!
The energy transition is happening in Oberreichenbach! On May 9th, the local council decided to allocate leases for special areas in the WC7 priority area of the wind energy sub-regional plan. The choice fell on the project developer Qualitas Energy, which is now pushing forward the planning for at least up to seven wind turbines in the region. As Schwarzwälder Bote reports, the municipal administration has already published the project on its homepage and organized a residents' meeting. The event took place in the Würzbach sports and multi-purpose hall, which, with its 180 seats, was filled to capacity. Here, citizens were able to participate live on the municipality's YouTube channel and receive direct information about the project.
Qualitas Energy, which is also active in other federal states, recently acquired four wind energy projects in Bavaria, Rhineland-Palatinate, North Rhine-Westphalia and Saxony-Anhalt. With clever repowering, i.e. replacing old wind turbines with new ones, the total capacity of these wind farms will be increased from 10 MW to an impressive 34 MW. This makes it possible to supply over 22,000 households with green wind power, as Erneuerbare Zukunft Magazin highlights.
Commitment to sustainable energy
The modernization of the wind farms is part of a larger concept by Qualitas Energy, which is also committed to decarbonization. Co-CEO Johannes Overbeck emphasizes the commitment to developing innovative energy solutions in close collaboration with local communities. This is particularly important in order to increase energy efficiency and at the same time contribute to security of supply.
The federal government supports these efforts because new legal regulations make it easier to repower wind turbines. This means that old wind turbines can be exchanged for more powerful models, which makes the operation significantly more lucrative. Despite the existing challenges, particularly with regard to nature conservation issues, the industry is optimistic. The Solarserver notes that regulations such as Section 16b BImSchG significantly simplify approval procedures, which benefits the development of wind energy projects.
Overall, there is a lot happening in the wind energy industry. For Oberreichenbach, this means new opportunities and perspectives to take an important step towards climate-neutral energy supply. We can only hope that the windmills will soon be blowing in town and that citizens can benefit from a sustainable energy future.
