Semi-trailer truck accident in Wimberg: complex rescue after a dramatic fall!
On Tuesday last week, a spectacular tractor-trailer accident occurred in Wimberg that is unparalleled in local history. The 61-year-old driver lost control of his 18-ton tractor-trailer, which then plunged down a slope and crashed into a building. Fortunately, the driver suffered only serious but non-life-threatening injuries and the exact circumstances of the incident are still being clarified. Initially it was suspected that the trigger was a medical emergency, but this was not confirmed. Rather, a brief lack of attention on the part of the driver could have caused him to hit a curb before the tractor-trailer drove over a traffic island and finally rolled down the embankment. According to the Schwarzwälder Bote the police could tell the driver allege a traffic offense that could be punished with a fine of 35 euros.
The rescue operation was extremely complex and required the use of two large crane vehicles weighing 110 and 60 tons to get the tractor-trailer back on the road. The fire department was on duty with an impressive team of 12 vehicles and 47 personnel from the Calw, Altburg and Pforzheim departments. A crane truck from the Pforzheim fire department (44 tons) was also used to secure the tractor-trailer from further slipping with a steel cable. Overall, the material damage is estimated at around 150,000 euros.
Keep an eye on technical developments
While the cleanup and investigations after the accident are still underway in Wimberg, the automotive world is no less exciting. The luxury car manufacturer Genesis has launched its latest model, the GV70. The GV70 has already proven to be a hit, earning MotorTrend's 2022 SUV of the Year title. It not only impresses with an attractive design, but also with advanced technologies and an excellent interior space. For many interested people, this is likely to be a topic that takes their minds off the recent events in Wimberg.
The new features for the 2026 model year include a revised exterior design, a new Ceres Blue color and a 27-inch display that combines driver and infotainment display. The equipment lines also receive expanded driver assistance systems and improved voice recognition, which provide additional comfort. This makes the GV70 not only a good choice for those who value safety, but also offers competitive interior space and an attractive cargo volume. If you're looking for a luxury compact SUV, the GV70 is an excellent deal with a starting price of around $50,000 and should be highly sought after at first glance, especially given the competition like the BMW X3 or Audi Q5.
