Aichwald is facing a care crisis: a new home is urgently needed!
In Aichwald, the topic of care is more relevant than ever. With a growing number of people in need of care, the community is faced with the challenge of creating more care places. 60 additional places are urgently needed, which is why planning for a new nursing home at the entrance to Schanbach is already in full swing. This information confirms Stuttgart News.
The new home is to be combined with a full-range retailer, a large supermarket. The construction is planned on an approximately two-hectare site, which is located opposite the existing “Im Lutzen” senior center. However, it gets a little complicated because the properties are privately owned and contain orchard trees that are worthy of protection, which requires an exemption from the Esslingen district office. The Lower Nature Conservation Authority has already signaled that a detailed site analysis is necessary in order to examine another available property, which is not entirely easy due to the numerous landscape protection areas in Aichwald.
Location analysis and planning
A planning office has taken on the task of carrying out the location analysis and the ecological assessment of the orchards. The results of these analyzes are expected before the summer holidays. Once the exemption is granted, the township plans to purchase the property and revise the zoning plan, but that entire process could take at least two years.
Another major problem remains the lack of funding for such facilities. How Aichwald.de reported, the establishment of a nursing service or nursing home must follow the requirements of the Nursing Insurance Act and approval must be applied for. Experts emphasize that there must be at least one responsible body to ensure high quality.
The shortage of skilled workers in nursing
The pressure on care is currently even more than the community can handle with real estate planning. A forecast shows that up to six million people could be in need of care by 2040. This also has an impact on the situation in Aichwald, because the shortage of skilled workers in nursing is increasingly becoming an obstacle. How Deutschlandfunk reports, over 191,000 additional nurses will be needed by 2040, while many positions remain unfilled. Finding qualified personnel remains a key challenge, recognized by Mayor Andreas Jarolim, who expressed concerns about high construction costs and a shortage of personnel.
The local council will continue to pursue the discussion about care and the creation of new facilities after the summer break. Exciting decisions lie ahead, while the people of Aichwalde hope for a modern and needs-based care infrastructure. In any case, a good hand in planning and implementation is required - demand could increase while the general conditions prove to be complicated.
