New administration building in Esslingen: forward-looking and sustainable!

The Esslingen district office has found a new home in the Pulverwiesen. On October 24, 2023, District Administrator Marcel Musolf officially received the key to the new administration building, the construction costs of which amount to a respectable 143.4 million euros. After two and a half years of construction, the new building is now ready to accommodate 675 jobs. The building is not only impressive, but also impresses with its sustainable construction. It was built entirely according to the principles of the circular economy.

Particularly striking are the roofs and facades, which are equipped with photovoltaics and even use the smallest way to supply renewable energy via heat pumps that are powered by Neckar water. This commitment to sustainable energy corresponds to the KfW Efficiency House Standard 40 and meets the criteria for a gold certificate from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).

A modern working environment

The new administration building is structurally divided into a three-zone principle, which consists of a public area, a semi-public area and an area for employees only. The information point on the ground floor acts as the first point of contact for citizens, while the vehicle registration office, which is also located on the ground floor, sees a high volume of visitors.

They have also shown a good hand when it comes to technical equipment: with LED walls in full HD and state-of-the-art audio and video technology, the meeting rooms and conference rooms are ideally equipped for hybrid formats. Over 30 consultation and meeting rooms can be booked digitally, supporting both analog and digital orientation in the building with a sophisticated wayfinding system.

Technological innovations for more efficient processes

With the desire to respond to the needs of companies and citizens, the administration will also rely on modern technologies in the future. In digital applications such as Dataverse, duplicates in the data can be identified and quickly deleted using the “Bulk Delete” function. This ensures improved data preparation and avoidance of redundancies. The integration of Power Apps for customizing forms in SharePoint lists offers additional possibilities for more efficient process design.

An example of the effective use of digital tools is Otter.ai. This platform not only allows for meeting transcription but also for organizing notes and action items. With an accuracy of up to 95%, users promise time savings of over four hours per week by automating their documentation processes. Features like automatic follow-ups and CRM sync have already proven to be extremely helpful.

The new administration building in Esslingen is more than just a new workplace; it is an example of modern, sustainable architecture that combines both environmental awareness and technical innovation in a single, appealing design.
