Timo Sölch presents Eigengrau”: melancholy meets music in Freudenstadt!

On November 1st, 2025 at 6 p.m. the time has come: Timo Sölch will present his new book of poetry “Eigengrau” in the Gerhard-Hertel Hall of the Freudenstadt Kurhaus. The reading is anything but ordinary, because Sölch has come up with an elaborate production that consists of three blocks with ten poems each. Accompanied by a musical intro and an atmospheric change of light, the spoken word will be in the foreground, like Schwarzwälder Bote reported.

“Eigengrau” joins a collection that includes a total of 48 poems, the most recent being from 2020 to 2025. Poems with titles such as “Coffee Thirst,” “Eckensteher,” “Night Walk,” and “The Last Storytime” deal with themes of transience, loneliness, and a thoughtful look at life. Sölch, who was born and raised in Freudenstadt and completed his commercial training there, has been a self-employed guitar teacher for 20 years, while poetry is his true passion.

The connection to nature and self-discovery

What will certainly be exciting are the topics that Sölch will address. Inspired by the acquaintance with nature and the search for human connection, Project 2 sam also reflects on these aspects. It puts together texts and melodies to create resonance spaces that promote self-discovery. The art of combining such inner images and words shows how strongly the connection to nature contributes to the creative process, as this platform explains on its website: “Questions about human separation and connection preoccupy the artists” (2 sam).

Sölch, who has performed in bars and theaters in the past and taken a creative break, now sees this reading as an opportunity to find his balance. And other artists such as Fritz Stavenhagen, who presents over 1,900 poems by German-speaking authors, also show the diversity of poetry. On the deutschelyrik.de website, interested parties can search for poems by author, era or topic, and since a technical update in November 2024, these can be downloaded free of charge.

A homage to poetry

With “Eigengrau” and the upcoming reading, Timo Sölch not only wants to share his own thoughts and experiences with an audience, but also celebrates a homage to the art form of poetry. The haunting melancholy and dreamy aspects of his poems could captivate listeners and make them think. So this evening will certainly not just be an event, but a moment of quiet reflection and inspired examination of the many facets of life.

Be there when the room in the Freudenstadt Kurhaus is filled with the sounds of poetry and experience how Timo Sölch enchants you with his poems.
