CVJM Göppingen donates 1,500 euros for hope in the hospice!
A warm gesture of solidarity was visible in Göppingen today when the football department of the CVJM Eichenkreuz presented a donation check for 1,500 euros to the inpatient hospice in the district. The ceremonial act took place as part of a friendly match against FC Amtschimmel from Bad Boll, which was played in a family atmosphere and in brilliant weather. The Eichenkreuz team was able to celebrate a clear 3-0 victory, but the real joy lay in the social responsibility that is dedicated to the anniversary year of the football department, which is 50 years old this year. This combination of sport and social commitment is valuable, and President Ulrich Steinbach emphasized the importance of supporting people in difficult life situations. Filstal Express reports that the check was presented by Steinbach, Vice President Daniel Frey and Treasurer Christian Ginglseder, with Marta Alfia and Georg Kolb from the hospice expressing thanks and joy for the generous support.
Donations and support are essential components of hospice work that are becoming increasingly important in the region. For example, on January 21, 2025, a “donation house” was presented by Peter Fritsch, and the Dürnau New Year's Eve Run 2024 collected an impressive 1,800 euros for the hospice with over 100 participants. These numerous campaigns show that awareness of the need for hospice services is constantly growing. Hospice Göppingen also documents a large number of events that are realized through the tireless efforts of volunteers and local organizations.
The value of volunteering and support
A central aspect of hospice work is the commitment of volunteers who support patients and their families in times of great stress. The impressive stories of these people, such as that of Anja Kobs, a hospice volunteer, show how transformative these experiences can be. Kobs has not only taken on a significant role in Caritas Fürstenfeldbruck's outpatient hospice and palliative counseling service, but also organizes charity runs and other events to collect donations. Caritas Fürstenfeldbruck praises their commitment and reports on the personal enrichment that such assignments bring with them.
The project developments surrounding the hospice in the district also show the commitment in the community. The Lions Club Geislingen's initiative to build another hospice, including planned day hospice places, illustrates the ongoing need and support in the region. With a total budget of six million euros, the construction of an additional 8 inpatient and 6 day hospice places in Geislingen is being pushed forward, which underlines the major steps in care.
The combination of sporting events and social commitment, as was evident at the CVJM Eichenkreuz's donation presentation, impressively shows that there is a strong awareness of supporting hospice services in Göppingen. These actions not only encourage financial help, but also strengthen the togetherness and community that is so important in difficult times.
