What's going on in Ratanda? The Lesedi Local Municipality (LLM) made a powerful statement for the community on June 13th when they together with Sinqobile Equestrian Security Services launched a large-scale social campaign. Led by Mayor Mluleki Nkosi and supported by senior municipal officials, the event was dedicated to youth development. As part of Youth Month celebrations, sports equipment was donated to three local schools to provide sporting opportunities for young people in the area.
The schools that benefited from this generous gesture are:
- Lethabo Siyangoba Primary
- Sithokomela Primary
- Kudung Middle School
The donations included both sportswear and equipment and are part of a long-term strategy to develop young people's sporting talent and encourage them to engage in healthy activities. In his speech, Nkosi emphasized the importance of investing in youth: “An investment in youth is an investment in the future,” said the mayor.
Support for seniors
After this successful event, the focus turned to another important part of the community: the seniors. LLM visited various old people's homes in Ratanda and distributed a total of 137 warm blankets. “Supporting seniors is a top priority in our community,” explained Nkosi, demonstrating the community’s commitment to all age groups.
These initiatives demonstrate the importance of community engagement. Community engagement not only promotes the well-being of citizens, but also contributes to sustainable growth in the region.
