Heidelberg: Greens elect new board – looking ahead to the 2026 state elections!

On July 14, 2025, the Heidelberg Greens met at the annual general meeting to elect a new board. In this important meeting, the course for the coming years was set. As the Heidelberg Greens report, the members can look forward to the re-election of Rike Greeb and Beate Deckwart-Boller as district chairmen. Tobias Ostheim remains treasurer and will also support the new board in this role.

Another highlight was the introduction of Florian Kollmann, who is running as a candidate for the direct mandate in Heidelberg. In her speech, Greeb emphasized the great importance of the upcoming state elections in 2026 for Baden-Württemberg and the support of Cem Özdemir as Prime Minister.

Member engagement

Beate Deckwart-Boller emphasized the relevance of the members' commitment and the need for open discussions in the district association. She emphasized that active cooperation is crucial in order to master the challenges of the future together. A new, expanded board was also elected, consisting of Jiska Dannenberger, Monika Gonser, Berit Rall, Christopher Marker, Philipp Rothkirch and Emil Schenkyr. Unfortunately, Theresia Bauer, Burkhard Margies and Lukas Weber did not appear again, and were thanked by the district association for their many years of commitment.

These elections took place against the background that the Schwerin district association of BÜNDNIS90/DIE GREENE is also seeking personnel changes. According to information from the Green Schwerin A new board was elected there on April 8th, offering a mix of experienced members and newcomers. The focus is on climate protection at the local level and inviting people to actively participate in shaping a future worth living.

New elections and delays

In contrast, the new elections for the district board in Neustadt, like the Rhine Palatinate reported did not take place as planned. The required number of members entitled to vote could not be reached at the district general meeting, so the meeting did not have a quorum. This was particularly unfortunate because the members wanted to start with a well-rehearsed team in order to be optimally prepared for the state elections in 2026.

In addition, there was an exchange about the ongoing projects and the networking of the local associations, whereby the increase in the number of members was noted. However, the challenge remains to motivate more members to actively participate.

The coming weeks and months will be crucial for the Greens' structure and strategy as all boards work towards the upcoming elections and focus on important issues such as climate protection, digitalization and social justice. It remains exciting to see how the political landscape will develop in the future.
