A big anniversary will already be celebrated in Markt Schwaben next year: the “Schwaben Sunday Encounters” are approaching their 125th birthday! This event has been organized by Bernhard Winter for 33 years and has attracted over 25,000 guests who dealt with social issues and got to know exciting personalities. The 125th Sunday meeting will take place on February 1, 2026 at 11:15 a.m. and will be dedicated to the former patron Hans-Jochen Vogel, as the Mercury reported.
A highlight of the event will be the participation of former participants, including Bishop Wolfgang Huber, Prof. Paul Kirchhof and Joachim Herrmann. In order to keep the memories of Hans-Jochen Vogel alive, tenth graders from the Markt Schwaben secondary school will read texts in which they will deal with his time as mayor and federal minister of justice. Of course, Hans-Jochen Vogel's children and the director of the Augustinum retirement home in Munich will also be there. Following the celebrations, the participants will have lunch at the Schweiger Brauhaus.
Events at a glance
But it's not just the anniversary that's on the agenda! The event “How do we get informed?” is already taking place on January 19, 2025. with Dr. Katja Wildermuth and Prof. Thomas Hanitzsch continue. Also on the program are exciting topics such as “The forest as an animal kingdom” on February 9, 2025 and the discussion on the “Future of Health” on March 30, 2025. Hans-Jochen Vogel – A life’s work
