Federal Police Bochum: Increasing arrests at the main train station!
In the past few days, the federal police in North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Württemberg caused a stir when several arrest warrants were executed within a short period of time. On June 20, 2025, a 30-year-old woman was arrested at Bochum main train station and had an arrest warrant against her. Loud Express It was a homeless woman from Engen who had been sentenced to a fine of 30 daily rates of 30 euros each for fraud. Since she could not raise the required sum of 981 euros, the federal police took her to the correctional facility.
The check took place at around 11.30 p.m. on platform 7/8 of the main station. When her identity card was checked, the arrest warrant became known, which was issued by the Villingen-Schwenningen district court in January 2024. The woman's exact identity was then confirmed through a fingerprint scan, while a Bochum police officer assisted in the search.

A look at the statistics
The most common crimes reported last year were theft and fraud. According to the Police Crime Statistics (PKS) from the Federal Criminal Police Office, there was a decrease in registered crimes in Germany by 1.7% to around 5.84 million in 2024. The decline was partly due to the partial legalization of cannabis, although crimes affecting citizens' sense of security increased. This shows that crime trends are subject to a variety of factors, such as police collection, which does not capture all incidents.
Nevertheless, crime remains a sensitive issue, especially in federal states with higher crime rates, such as North Rhine-Westphalia, Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. Despite a decreasing proportion of young suspects under the age of 21, the proportion of non-German suspects is also increasing.
