New floating jetty in Hemmenhofen: 120,000 euros for the port renovation!

After long and intensive planning, the port in Hemmenhofen is facing significant renovation. Like that South Courier reports, the local council recently provided funds totaling almost 120,000 euros for the construction of a new floating jetty. The old floating dock, which served for 24 years, had to be dismantled due to corrosion and storm damage. Serious defects became apparent, particularly in 2023, starting with the safety eyelets of the floating body, followed by further damage to the bridge to the main jetty due to a storm.

There is great anticipation for the new footbridge, but construction will take until spring 2026. The renovation was originally scheduled to be completed in autumn 2023. A late approved budget for 2025 and the associated delays in tendering the necessary work were the reasons for the unwanted extension of the deadline. Building authority manager Michael Martin said that only one company submitted an offer for the piling work, which could not be carried out by the end of October due to time constraints.

Regulations for berth holders

The local council has also decided to change the statutes, which will allow mooring tenants to use a second boat on the mooring they have rented in the coming year. In Gundholzen, the berth holders in the buoy field have to pay a construction cost subsidy, similar to the users of jetties. The new regulations for notice periods are also interesting: tenants who leave their space unused within two years are allowed to take advantage of shorter notice periods. The quotas for berths were also reorganized.

Modern floating docks on trend

Modern floating docks are very popular because they offer stability, functionality and weather resistance. The constructions are based on stable floating bodies, the number and size of which vary depending on the intended use, the size of the jetty and the specific requirements of the water. Loud Technus Individual jetties can be used for both private leisure activities and public bathing areas. These modular systems are customizable and can be installed in rivers, lakes and harbors.

The planning of jetties differs between private and commercial projects. Duwe highlights that private jetty systems often focus on comfort and aesthetics, while commercial systems place more emphasis on functionality and resilience. Tax incentive programs can also support sustainable construction methods and innovative materials.

Investing in a well-planned jetty pays off in the long term and not only offers access to boats, but also space for a variety of leisure activities. The future development in Hemmenhofen could not only beautify the appearance of the harbor, but also contribute to revitalizing local life.
