In the USA, the political situation surrounding the budget negotiations is finally becoming more dynamic. After a shutdown that lasted almost six weeks, an agreement is emerging between Democrats and Republicans in the Senate. As the LKZ reported, the two parties have negotiated key points of a compromise, which for many gives hope that the blocked government work will be ended soon.
A crucial procedural vote on this compromise is already scheduled for Sunday evening (local time). But the situation is not entirely carefree: The deal could contain some important points, but the end of the shutdown is still a long time coming. To advance passage of the bill, at least 60 votes are needed in the Senate, a challenge given there are 53 Republicans in the 100-member body. Fortunately, enough Democrats have already agreed to support the proposal.

Senator Lindsey Graham, a Republican from South Carolina, also praised President Trump for his call for an overhaul of Obamacare. In a recent post on Truth Social, Graham emphasized that Republicans are unwilling to extend health care tax breaks. How CBS News reports that he sees a one-year extension as unfair to taxpayers.

Graham made it clear that Republicans want to work with the president to find better solutions to reduce health care costs.
