Men's II with tailwind: Test match against the new io College Wizards!

The basketball season in Germany is picking up speed and the Men II of the MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg are ready to show off their skills. After a successful test match on Saturday, in which they defeated the hapa Ansbach Piranhas 82:63, they are going into their next game full of enthusiasm. Top scorer Simon Feneberg contributed an impressive 17 points to the victory and will also play a key role in the upcoming game. On Friday, September 19, 2025, they will compete against the io College Wizards at the Friedrich List School in Karlsruhe. Kick-off is at 7:30 p.m.

David Engelhardt, who contributed 10 points and 5 rebounds on Saturday, hopes to carry the positive momentum into the game against the Wizards. The Ludwigsburg team want to develop a good feeling and rhythm for the upcoming season and are highly motivated to shine in Karlsruhe too.

New beginning for the io College Wizards

The io College Wizards, who have a new name and a fresh logo this season, also have big plans. On September 1st, the partnership with its new main sponsor “io”, a consulting company specializing in supply chain solutions, was announced. Managing director Zoran Seatovic is confident that this collaboration will open up new opportunities and lead the club into a successful future. The Wizards want to expand the connection between elite sport and academic environments, which also underlines the club's new identity that reflects its goals and values.

The past few months have been turbulent for the Wizards; Last season's top scorer and leading rebounder, Tarig Eisa, has left the club. Nevertheless, the team has retained some players and signed new talent, including Sam Stockton, son of NBA legend John Stockton, who comes from Eastern Washington University. With these changes, the Wizards hope to field a competitive team.

Sponsorship in professional sports

The sports sponsorship market is becoming increasingly important in meeting the financial needs of clubs. Sponsorship in international sport currently has a volume of around 114 billion US dollars and is showing a positive trend. Sponsors like Nike, Adidas and Coca-Cola are no strangers to this arena and help increase the visibility of teams. Especially after the latest developments at the Wizards, it becomes clear how crucial the search for strong sponsors is for the continued existence and success of a team.

With their new look and new sponsor, the io College Wizards are pulling out all the stops to use this support for their projects. The challenges created by Eisa's departure are intended to be balanced out by the innovative spirit of the new namesake.

The upcoming game will show whether the men from Ludwigsburg can hold their own against the newly formed Wizards. The anticipation among the fans is palpable and everyone is looking forward to the duel in Karlsruhe.
